Kanye West Sings About Ex at Australian Concert [Video]
At a recent concert in Melbourne, Australia, Kanye West decided to sing over his “Say You Will” instrumental about the girls that have done him wrong in the past. This is not the first time Yeezy has treated his fans to a heartfelt freestyle. He famously shouted out Amber Rose in Philadelphia last November while on The Throne tour.
While crooning West spoke about late night conversations with his lovers. “It’s like 2:45 and you know what type of texts niggas send at that time,” ‘Ye sang. “I text her and I said, ‘Are you alive?’ That’s when you send that text and say, ‘Hey, are you alive? ‘Cause the only reason why you not here bitch is you better have died.”
Yeezy kept the subject of his rhymes anonymous throughout. “And you know they got a new muthafucka, and you know you just want to fuck her to prove the next nigga ain’t as good as you and he can’t do what you do,” he sang. “So baby if you give me one chance.”
“This is the type of pussy you risk your life for, this is the type of pussy you leave your wife for,” West added.
West and Jay-Z just announced European dates in May through June for their collaborative Throne tour. There are also rumors about a Watch the Throne sequel and Jay and ‘Ye’s next individual solo projects. –Nicholas Sella
Police Awarded $5 Million in Defamation Lawsuit Against Game
A North Carolina Court of Appeals ruled in favor of rewarding five police officers each with $1 million in damages that stemmed from their appearance in the Game’s infamous DVD, Stop Snitching/Stop Lyin, according to Fox News.
The five officers filed a $5 million defamation suit, claiming their images were misrepresented in the footage and they were the victims of slander and libel and the North Carolina Court of Appeals agreed.
One part of the movie showed Game and his Black Wall Street crew at the Four Seasons Mall in Greensboro, North Carolina as they got into an altercation with mall security and local police. Game was arrested for criminal trespassing, communicating threats and disorderly conduct after he ignored requests to leave the mall. The court ruling explains that Game’s arrest— which was filmed by a member of his crew—was “heavily edited” and made it seem “as though Taylor was wrongfully arrested.” According to the court, the DVD was promoted as showcasing the entire arrest.
The DVD came out in 2005 during the height of the Game and G-Unit beef and followed the rapper around the country while he toured and promoted his “G-Unot” campaign and mocked his former boss 50 Cent every chance he got. The DVD was paired with a mixtape of the same name and was one of many that were aimed at Fif and the rest of G-Unit.
The film also shows Game as he travels around New York City being followed by the “hip-hop” police and concludes with him and his friends as they try to get around the security at 50 Cent’s Connecticut mansion to speak to the rapper. The officers also filed for $10 million in punitive damages, but that case was rejected. —Nicholas Sella

Sledgren Talks “Morocco,” Taylor Allderdice, & 20 Unreleased Songs With Wiz Khalifa
Tuesday night (Feb. 21), Taylor Gang soldiers released three new songs. One of them, “Cup,” from Juicy J featuring Wiz Khalifa and Chevy Woods, was a remix of LoveRance’s “Up!” The other two, though—”Home Run,” with Chevy and Wiz, and “Morocco,” which was Wiz on the solo tip—were produced by Sledgren. Each joint had people talking, and the producer took some time to explain to XXLMag.com how the records came about, and what to expect from Wiz’s upcoming mixtape, Taylor Allderdice.
“I made both of those beats [Tuesday], and they recorded yesterday,” Sledgren revealed to XXLMag.com. “I made ‘em in my hotel and we came straight [to the studio].”
He also understood that the sound wasn’t something that people necessarily expected from him, but the Pittsburgh native was happy about that. “People know me for a lot of samples and stuff, so I’ve been going for a sound that isn’t a sample, and I try to change my drums up,” he said. “I’m just trying to do different shit. When I was coming up, I used to watch producers that were tight, and I liked the ones that I couldn’t define their sound. It was never easy to make a Timbaland beat or something like that. I just feel like a lot of other producers, it’s kind of easy to mimc them, and I want to be one step ahead. If Wiz wouldn’t have said [on Twitter that] I made that beat, people probably wouldn’t have guessed it.”
This is only the beginning of new Taylor Gang music, the 2011 XXL Freshman producer pick reminded. “Taylor Allderdice is finished. We’re just waiting on that. That’s the big project right now. We’re tucking things for the album as we go along. There are actually things that were supposed to go on the album that’s going on to the mixtape. Shit’s definitely gonna be tight. I’m not sure of a release date for it.”
The Pittsburgh native also said that, like with Wiz’s breakout release, Kush & Orange Juice, he and Cardo will handle much of the production. “There’s not that many songs on there,” he continued. “I did kind of what I did for Kush & Orange Juice. But I think there might be one more song that’s on there. It’s like three songs, I believe, that I did. There’s like three that Cardo did, and that’s like over 50 percent of the production, is me and Cardo. It’s not a part two [to Kush & Orange Juice], but these things never stop. It’s just a continuation of that.”
“Wiz’s album, when he was going in, I had total block,” Sledgro admitted. “I’m not even gonna lie. I wasn’t submitting stuff. He was like, You ready for me? And I just didn’t have what I felt I was supposed to give to him.”
Now, though, they’ve got plenty of stuff in the stash. “Me and Wiz have probably about 20 tracks that aren’t out that are new. I just want the world to hear that right now.” —Adam Fleischer
Nas to Join Common and Q-Tip in Super Group?
It looks like The Standard, Common and Q-Tip’s super group, might have gotten a new all-star member.
In today’s edition of New York’s Daily News, it was revealed that the duo are interested in adding another MC to the crew and while it has not been confirmed yet, collaborator of both living legends, Nas, is most definitely interested.
Q-Tip was instrumental to Nas’s success at the beginning of his career, producing “One Love”—the fourth single off the Nasty MC’s seminal debut LP, Illmatic— and “The World is Yours (Remix).” Nasir also produced the A Tribe Called Quest documentary, Beats Rhymes and Life. Meanwhile, Com and God’s Son recently recorded “Ghetto Dreams” for the Chicago native’s last album, The Dreamer, The Believer. They’ve also both appeared on Hi-Tek’s “Music for Life” and Jadakiss’s “Why (Remix).”
Although The Standard formed in 2007, they have yet to put out any music, instead focusing on their solo material.
Com has been promoting his last record, while both Q-Tip and Nas are steady at work on their next discs.
