Soulja Boy tweeted over the weekend that he wrote Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair.” All Hip Hop chased down the rumors and as it turns out, since the young Dubya Smith used a line Tellem trademarked, he got writing credits. This sets a whacked out precedent as the whole hip-hop culture is based on borrowing beats, riffs and spits. If you take all the words in someone’s song, then yeah, they should get paid, but a line? And then to claim you wrote the whole damn song?
His tweet says “we gettin’ $$$$ in 2011″ which is good because he’s gonna need at least $$ if MC Hammer comes back and says he wants some of that cash for using his name with his “speakers goin’ hammer.”
